Il progetto per Piazza Libertà mira a tre obiettivi: lo sviluppo dell’attrattività, pensando allo stesso tempo a una piazza per tutti e una piazza per ciascuno, dove l’intera comunità possa ritrovarsi ma anche dove ogni singola utenza (dai bambini agli anziani) sia considerata; l’incremento del comfort, configurando una piazza sicura in tutte le ore del giorno e accessibile in tutti i giorni dell’anno; la valorizzazione della memoria.

La strategia progettuale si basa sulla suddivisione dello spazio aperto in quattro luoghi, ciascuno con specifiche caratteristiche morfologiche e funzionali: il salotto urbano, con il pergolato, la fontana e le fioriere; l’area polifunzionale, concepita come interfaccia flessibile per attività culturali e sportive; il parco ludico e didattico, con tre isole attrezzate per bambini differenziate per età e i nuovi alberi “didattici”; la piazza dei giochi e della lettura, con sedute isolate e tavoli da gioco.

Trasversalmente a questi quattro ambiti, a garantire continuità percettiva e funzionale, sono stati introdotti cinque layer: gli arredi (le sedute individuali, lineari e integrate), la luce (di sicurezza e scenografica, nella fontana, nel pergolato e tra le sedute), l’acqua (con i getti a terra dell’area polifunzionale, la linea davanti a Villa Mussi e la fontana), il verde (con un nuovo filare sulla piazza, la vegetazione bassa nelle vasche, le superfici a prato lungo via Paradiso) e la segnaletica (la segnaletica monumentale, con i dieci totem descrittivi dei principali edifici, la segnaletica storica, con i dieci pannelli del sistema legno-arredo-design e la segnaletica botanica, con i cinque totem che raccontano gli alberi “didattici”).

I lavori per la sistemazione della piazza sono iniziati nel settembre 2021.

The project of Piazza Libertà aims to three goals: the development of attractivity, thinking at the same time to a square for all and a square for each one, where the whole community can meet but also where all the potential users is considered; the increase of comfort, configuring a square that can be safe every hour of the day and accessible every day of the year; the enhancement of memory

The design strategy starts from the subdivision of the open space in four places, each one with specific morphological and functional characters: the urban living room, with the canopy, the fountain and the flower-boxes; the polyfunctional area, conceived as a flexible interface for cultural and sports activities; the ludic and didactic park, with three equipped areas for children, differentiated according with their age, and the new “didactic trees”; the square for playing and for reading, with isolated seats and outdoor game tables

The functional and visual continuity among these 4 spaces is guaranteed by 5 layers: urban furniture (the individual, linear and integrated seatings), light (for increasing the safety/security and the visual comfort by night, in the fountain, in the canopy and in the seatings), water (with the jets integrated in the pavement, the line in front of Villa Mussi and the fountain), green (with a new row of trees for defining the new edge of the square, the low shrubs in the flower-boxes and the grass surfaces along via Paradiso) and the signage (monumental signage, with ten totems that describe the main buildings, historical signage, with ten panels of the wood-furniture-design system and botanical signage, with ten totems that explain the “didactic trees”).

The works for the requalification of the square began in September 2021.
