roma residential building

Cantù (CO)

The building is placed on one of the parcels that separate the main pedestrian road of the city centre from Via Roma, in front of the public gardens and Villa Calvi. The ground floor is entirely commercial, the upper ones are devoted to the dwellings and the offices. The facades are differentiated according with the panoramic views and the use of the interior spaces. The west elevation towards the gardens, symmetrical, is divided in four modules: the two at the sides are for lodges, the central ones to glass surfaces. The south elevation is divide in two by four windows vertically aligned plus three windos that are aligned horizontally only for the floor that hosts the offices. The entrance door, the railing, the entryway (characterized by the repetition of several wooden gates, with different heights) are designed by the author, and realized by local craftsmen.
